Our Philosophy
Our objective is to breed a few great horses with both the athletic ability to compete effectively in the western performance events and the intelligence and temperament go on to be quality, reliable horses for individuals and families. We breed specifically for conformation, athletic ability, temperament and sturdy, pleasant looking horses.
A majority of our mares and our stallions are both AQHA and FQHA registered. We’ve had the good fortune to be able to “start from scratch” in building our breeding stock, and have invested in the best representations of the lines of horses we want to create. But excellent genes are only the starting point. We search specifically for individual horses within a given line that demonstrate exceptional personality and display confidence, conformation, athleticism, agility, and are enjoyable to ride.
We believe that the mare is AT LEAST 50% of what the foal will become - because good horses are a product of nature and nurture. Therefore, we invest with the mindset that a mare’s paper, capabilities and ability to provide care are just as important as the stallions we breed them to. We have also taken special care to choose mares that express consistency in bloodlines, conformation and disposition.
While we don’t specifically breed for color, we do get a lot of nuanced color varieties in our program. A case in point: our stallion, Wolf Creek Red Buck, not only passes along his athletic ability, classic Quarter Horse good looks and great disposition, but he is homozygous for the black gene, carries the dun gene and is a beautiful buckskin color.
