Angels Among Us
Max
Max was a very special dog who had life pretty much figured out. Max was amazing with his knack for being a “friend”. He held a spot in the hearts of all of us who knew him and we all still get a little teary when we reminisce about him. His most significant relationship was with his owner and handler, Neal. He and Max had been together for a number of years and he traveled with Neal as his hunting companion all over the country… from Idaho to Iowa and from the Dakotas to Arizona. He was steady, wise and tolerant and gave a number of young boys and girls their first chance to see what real hunting was all about. He lived on the ranch and in the city. He had his friends in both places and brought special smiles when he visited the nursing home. His “special friend” was Neal’s neighbor and good friend Henry Johns. They rambled around the neighborhood and napped a lot on Henry’s porch swing. Henry left us in August of 2007 and the day after Henry’s services Max just decided to go along with Henry. He always had the best treats.
